The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board is comprised of 149 schools (123 elementary and 26 secondary) as well as a network of Adult and Continuing Education sites. French-Immersion Catholic Schools in Mississauga
French Immersion is a Canadian educational program designed to give students whose first language is not French the opportunity to learn in the French language. The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board is pleased to offer the French Immersion Program starting in Grade 1 at eight school sites.
Students registered in this program will spend 90% of their day learning in the French language. All subjects and activities in the French Immersion classroom, except for Religion and Family Life, will be delivered in French. In Grades 2 and 3, 70% of the instruction will be in French, with the proportion of English increasing to 50% in later years.
Elementary Catholic French Immersion Program
The French Immersion program was a new initiative introduced in September 2008. In September 2010, Grades 1 to 3 will be offered at St. Margaret of Scotland, Grades 1 and 2 will be offered at St. Gertrude, and Grade 1 will be offered at Divine Mercy. Subsequent grades will be added each year through to Grade 8. Please note that transportation to this program of choice is not provided by the Board.

Elementary Catholic Extended French Programs
This program provides students with the means to develop more advances French skills, enabling them to communicate effectively in speech and in writing, as they receive 1,900 hours of instruction by the end of Grade 8. The Extended French Program is only offered at designated schools in Dufferin-Peel.
